After five years of development, Harvest Moon Natural Foods is here in my neighborhood and I couldn't be more pleased. Having been a team member on the ground floor of bringing this market to our town, I felt like a proud mama at the Founding Member-Owner open house on Sunday night. It's interesting that even Sunny understands what this means for our family...fresh food, community, and a healthy and knowledgeable relationship with what we eat. Super duper proudy-proud.
This afternoon we walked ( had to know how long it would take us for those times when we need to fit in a walk/bike AND shopping time) into town and just twenty minutes later were browing the beautifully colored aisles of Harvest Moon Natural Foods. A little strawberry and rhubarb sample here, a wonderful cheese sample there, a little impromptu ice cream purchase on the way out meant dinner looked more like chocolate and nut covered ice cold vanilla than the intended grilled chicken and homemade coleslaw with side salad!
Making me burst even more with excitement for this community was the sense of community I felt just being there within those walls. I was among my people! I recognized those I'd seen at church, the chiropractor, gas station or library, but never at the co-op across town, and now they were right here with us. Felt sooo good. Bumped into the father of one of my best friends from high school, friends from high school, women who were on this ground floor team with me five years ago and members of the powerhouse team that made this little dream of ours a reality.
My well is full.
