There are four, FOUR days of school left for my Kindergarten Queen. Next Thursday is the Rainbow Bridge Ceremony in her sweet Waldorf classroom where she will be sent off to greet her first grade teacher and given her first lesson. I get weepy just thinking about it.
As some of you may know, we are crossing our fingers that Spring Hill Waldorf School is something we can do for first grade ( and take one year at a time). It's an amazing education, triple the amazing community and such a wholesome place to raise a family. Our default is homeschooling, which gets me excited as well, so you can watch for the ongoing conversation here about what our choice will be.
But these ( note the mismatched socks) might be the the bit I miss most about the last months of kindergarten. Every morning she chooses socks that do not match...I mean really do not match. We never say a word about it, just praising her for the good choices she makes in regards to what she wears every day. I stopped that battle when she was three. Really, do I care what she wears? So long as we provide her with good choices and a set of parameters around what is and isn't acceptable, she falls right in the middle just fine. Usually things don't match, but honestly, she's always cute as a button. (that may be a bit biased). How long will it be until she decides that matching is the way to go? Hopefully never, it makes getting dressed a whole lot easier.

My oldest daughter is 6 and still likes wearing mismatched socks. I just love it! It's a little reminder of the innocence of childhood.
